Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I (Hospital Pharmacy)

Pay range: $21.53–$26.91 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare and dispense medications and mixtures under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Accurately replenish automated dispensing cabinets, floor stock areas, patient-specific medication bins, and emergency medication carts.
• Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique and compound non-sterile medications according to standard formulas.
• Maintain pharmacy storage areas, medication inventories, unit-dose packaging, cycle counts, and temperature inspection records.
• Provide customer assistance in person and by phone, including point-of-sale transactions and call triage.
• Complete quality-control documentation and collaborate with nursing, physicians, ancillary services, and pharmacy colleagues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.
• Ability to organize work, communicate effectively, and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Knowledge of medications, including brand and generic names, dosage forms, indications, formulary status, and strengths.
• Knowledge of hazardous-substance handling, sterile compounding techniques, and mathematical calculations.
• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the workday and occasionally lift up to 30 lb; the role also involves pushing equipment weighing 40–60 lb.
