TL;DR
Radar Systems Engineer (Naval Radar and Electronic Warfare): Supporting radar, imaging, and electronic warfare systems through analysis, design, capability enhancements, testing, and in-service support with an accent on naval radar architectures, signal processing, antenna performance, and electromagnetic compatibility. Focus on evaluating S-band and X-band systems, analyzing detection and tracking algorithms in MATLAB, designing test procedures, and assessing technical risks for fielded military platforms.

Location: Middletown, Rhode Island; hybrid work with occasional telework, but candidates must be local to the work location.

Projected compensation: $88,289.08–$153,517.58 per year.

What you will do

  • Support Naval Undersea Warfare Center radar, imaging, and electronic warfare teams.
  • Analyze, design, enhance, test, and support navigation radar, imaging periscope, photonics mast, and electronic warfare systems.
  • Assess radar architectures, interfaces, message protocols, high-speed networks, antenna performance, and digital signal processing algorithms.
  • Evaluate radar performance in different environments and assess installation, equipment layout, and system requirements.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test procedures, CONOPS, performance specifications, technical assessments, and risk reports.
  • Collaborate with Rite-Solutions and NUWC engineers as part of an integrated technical team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in radar systems engineering, design, analysis, and/or testing.
  • Expertise in radar components, operating curves, design parameters, performance trade-offs, propagation models, electromagnetic compatibility, and interference.
  • Experience with detection processing, tracking algorithms, common ARPA functions, and S-band and X-band radar systems on naval or other mobile military platforms.
  • Experience conducting MATLAB data analysis using theoretical sensor models, synthetic datasets, and live measurements.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field with antenna or radar coursework.
  • Experience with CARPET, Interactive Scenario Builder, Linux frameworks, message protocols, network architectures, and virtual computing.
  • Familiarity with C++, Java, Python, and information assurance or cybersecurity engineering processes.
