Senior Systems Engineer, Algorithm Development (Radar)

Location: Full-time onsite work at the Hawthorne, California office; the position is listed in El Segundo, California, United States.

Salary: $140,000–$280,000 base compensation per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop radar signal-processing algorithms for target detection, tracking, and classification.
• Lead the development of radar capabilities and modes with minimal guidance.
• Optimize and implement algorithms in C++, Python, MATLAB, FPGAs, or DSPs for real-time performance and resource constraints.
• Develop system simulations and models for radar systems, subsystems, and signal-processing chains.
• Analyze radar data, evaluate system performance, and identify improvements.
• Plan and lead field tests, contribute to system requirements, document findings, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Deep understanding of radar systems, radar modes, radar principles, and signal-processing algorithms.
• Systems Engineering experience with RF systems and expertise in digital signal processing, including modulation, filtering, and detection.
• Strong familiarity with Python or MATLAB and expertise in algorithm development and data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work full-time onsite at the Hawthorne, California office.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in STEM or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with radar waveform design, matched filtering, Doppler processing, and clutter rejection.
• Strong foundation across both sides of the Systems Engineering V.
• Experience with C++.
