Community Health Worker II

Location: McAllen, Texas, United States. Requires substantial travel within the Lower Rio Grande Valley across multiple counties and occasional travel outside the region, as well as adaptable hours including evenings and weekends.

What you will do

• Recruit patients and participants and support program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Assess community needs and connect participants with financial, social, and community support services.
• Coordinate appointments, participant flow, and access to required medical records.
• Collect, coordinate, and manage program and participant data.
• Communicate with participants, community members, stakeholders, and research staff as a program liaison.
• Participate in health promotion and disease prevention research and instruct CHW students and trainees.

Requirements

• Associate degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Four years of related experience in public relations, outreach, training, or a related area.
• DSHS certification, Certified Community Health Worker certification, Promotora Certification of Training, or the ability to complete the required Promotora certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, handle sensitive information confidentially, and provide technological support.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Two years of experience as a Community Health Worker serving Spanish-speaking community members and stakeholders.
• Experience in public relations, marketing, training, data collection, and data management.
• Experience with community-based participatory research.
