Engineer - Engineer Principal (Distribution Network Engineering)

Salary: $122,000–$132,000 USD annually for the Engineer Principal level; the overall compensation range is $87,633–$151,132.50.

hirify.global provides electric utility services, with this role supporting PSO’s downtown underground network and complex distribution facilities.

What you will do

• Design standard and non-standard network and distribution circuits, primary cable projects, underground substations, and feeder exits.
• Provide engineering, planning, project management, and operational support for underground distribution systems.
• Coordinate planned outages, service disconnects and reconnects, meter installations, telecommunications activities, and stakeholder communications.
• Perform CYME load-flow and fault-current studies, system modeling, reliability analysis, long-term improvement planning, and capital strategy development.
• Monitor network loading and system health through PI Vision, review alarms and abnormal conditions, and maintain AutoCAD maps, one-line diagrams, and underground infrastructure documentation.
• Lead projects through engineering, construction, inspection, procurement, budget management, contractor coordination, and closeout while supporting emergency and storm restoration activities.

Requirements

• 8 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or 6 years of related experience with a master's degree or PhD in engineering.
• Working knowledge of underground network and distribution systems, including primary distribution, secondary networks, transformers, protectors, vaults, duct banks, cables, and metering equipment.
• Ability to perform or develop proficiency in load-flow, fault-current, system-modeling, equipment-condition, and reliability analyses.
• Ability to coordinate engineering and construction work across operations, civil engineering, metering, telecommunications, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Professional Engineer registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred unless formally waived.
• Engineering degrees are expected to be from ABET-accredited programs, with specified alternatives available for non-ABET engineering and engineering technology degrees.
