Electrical Engineer (BESS)

Location: Full-time remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Some field work and 15–25% travel may be required.

Salary: $75,000–$110,000 per year; the range is based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for all aspects of battery energy storage systems.
• Develop equipment general arrangements, single-line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bills of materials, construction details, grounding plans, conduit plans, and illumination plans.
• Prepare computer-based models and perform utility-scale BESS power system studies, including equipment sizing, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, and related analyses.
• Write material, equipment, and construction specifications; review specification sheets and submittals for compliance.
• Prepare cost estimates, budget reports, studies, and other project documentation.
• Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, observation reports, design reviews, client communication, and coordination with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power option is preferred.
• 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and people skills.
• Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Ability to maintain a strong understanding of applicable codes and standards, follow safety rules, attend required training, and lift 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with utility-scale BESS.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and electrical power system study software such as PowerFactory and ETAP.
• Experience with CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, Visual Lighting, or similar software.
• Experience with 3D BIM design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, and standard computer software.
• FE or PE licensure.
