Principal Engineer - Electrical (Distributed Generation)

Location: In-office in Rochester, NY or Binghamton, NY, United States

Base salary: $120,000–$160,400 annually, depending on experience and location.

What you will do

• Lead complex electrical engineering projects, studies, initiatives, and distributed generation interconnection teams.
• Solve complex interconnection problems involving customer generators, photovoltaic systems, and fuel cells.
• Design systems, substation layouts, foundations, equipment specifications, and other engineering solutions.
• Review and approve drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, engineering documentation, and work completed by others.
• Plan project scope, schedules, construction and outage sequencing, resource allocation, budgets, and estimates.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, guide contractors, and present information to regulatory and public entities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineering license required.
• Experience in planning, operations, engineering design, construction, analytical modeling, calculations, and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory standards and requirements.
• Expertise in distributed generation, generator interconnections, substation design, industry codes, standards, and regulations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Professional Engineering license from the State of Connecticut.
• Experience in a utility environment and knowledge of construction and maintenance standards up to 345kV.
