TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace Electronics) (Lean manufacturing and defense electronics): Developing and improving manufacturing processes, layouts, tooling, instructions, and production metrics for high-power aerospace and defense electronics with an accent on manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and regulated production. Focus on identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, evaluating design changes and non-conformances, and building business cases for capital equipment and process improvements.

Location: Fort Walton Beach, Florida, United States; onsite role

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including high-power solutions, radar, directed energy, and electronic warfare systems.

What you will do

  • Study, analyze, and design manufacturing methods, procedures, processes, layouts, production flows, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Implement cost-reduction and product-improvement programs and identify root causes and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Review customer specifications, statements of work, new product designs, design changes, and manufacturing change requests.
  • Evaluate facilities, equipment, materials, non-conformances, and make-or-buy or quotation cost analyses.
  • Develop operating instructions, manufacturing metrics, procedures, and training for assemblers and production operators.
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, vendors, customers, and management; develop ROI analyses and business cases for equipment and process improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Practical knowledge of modern production principles and methods in high-technology electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of material characteristics and processing, chemicals, and basic electrical, mechanical, fluid, and heat-transfer systems.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9145 and the ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels.
  • Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required; eligibility for ITAR-related access and, where applicable, a U.S. Government security investigation is required.
