Platform Engineer (AWS/Cloud)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, with an average of two days per week in the office; U.S. citizenship required.

What you will do

• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex problems with Big Data and cloud technologies.
• Design and implement core software architecture and platform capabilities from prototype through operational deployment.
• Develop and deploy infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Integrate, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing codebases and virtual cloud infrastructure.
• Work autonomously to identify and troubleshoot complex systems and platform issues.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Secret-level security clearance are required.
• At least 5 years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree, or an equivalent education and experience combination.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor distribution of Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, plus shell scripting proficiency.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment and spend approximately two days per week at the San Antonio office.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA's Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization, or agile software development tool suites.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
