Platform Engineer (Python/Java/AWS/Linux)

Location: Hybrid in Columbia, Maryland, with an average of 1–2 days per week in the office; U.S. citizenship required.

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code for complex time series analysis.
• Design and implement software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Integrate systems and enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing codebases.
• Identify and solve technical problems autonomously while working toward broader architectural goals.

Requirements

• 9+ years of platform engineering or software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Professional experience with Python or Java and AWS infrastructure development.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, plus Shell/Bash scripting proficiency.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a Secret-level U.S. Government security clearance and Security+ certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment from the Columbia, Maryland office and adapt to schedule changes.

Nice to have

• TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or systems such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.
• Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization, and agile development tools.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
