Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; Workplace: Hybrid

Salary: $100,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage, modernize, and secure AWS-based platforms supporting Department of War customers.
• Build and maintain reusable infrastructure patterns with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Develop and improve CI/CD workflows for automated build, testing, security scanning, deployment, and release processes.
• Support application teams with workload onboarding and standardized deployment patterns using Docker, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, and AWS Fargate.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, pipeline, container, networking, permissions, and deployment issues across development, test, and production environments.
• Develop automation, maintain monitoring and access-control services, document runbooks, and improve platform reliability and developer experience.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain it within the first 60 days, and current AWS certification or ability to obtain it within the first 90 days.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, systems administration, infrastructure automation, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience with AWS core services, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and scripting with Shell, PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript.
• Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment and document technical processes and procedures.

Nice to have

• AWS Associate, Specialty, or Professional-level certification.
• Experience with Terraform modules, remote state, workspaces, Git workflows, YAML, and JSON.
• Experience with Kubernetes tooling, including Helm, ingress controllers, namespaces, and container registries.
• Experience with federal, Public Trust, NIST, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, AI/ML concepts, Active Directory or LDAP, and RHEL, Linux, or Windows Server administration.
