Civil / Environmental Engineer - Solid Waste

Location: Madison, Wisconsin; candidates throughout Wisconsin and Midwest states may also be considered.

Salary: USD $70,012.80–$125,000 per year, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop engineering designs and provide project support and project management for solid waste engineering projects.
• Design and support municipal and industrial landfills, transfer stations, materials recovery facilities, recycling centers, composting facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Plan, design, and support construction of landfill gas collection, leachate management, closure, post-closure, and construction quality assurance systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from planning and permitting through design and construction.
• Support civil engineering work involving site development, stormwater management, drainage, grading, and geotechnical engineering.
• Mentor and train junior staff while managing multiple projects.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in civil, environmental, or solid waste engineering.
• Experience with landfill design, permitting, site development, stormwater management, grading, drainage, geotechnical engineering, or related civil engineering disciplines.
• Professional Engineer license or Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred; ability to obtain licensure is highly desirable.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar civil design software and strong technical proficiency with engineering software.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and collaborative communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Nice to have

• Experience with landfill capacity analysis, landfill gas and leachate systems, wetland permitting, construction management, environmental compliance, or facility operations.
• Experience with renewable energy and waste-to-energy systems, including landfill gas-to-energy, solar, wind, anaerobic digestion, or biogas.
• Experience with odor assessment, emissions reporting, ambient air monitoring, and related environmental systems.
