Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid) - 27718 (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Columbia, Maryland, United States; 1–2 days per week in the office required. U.S. citizenship is required, along with a position-appropriate security clearance.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex Java-based software capabilities.
• Design enterprise APIs and RESTful web services within microservices architectures.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes deployments using Helm and Flux.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and team leadership while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience developing software with Java and modern frameworks such as Spring and Guava.
• At least 9 years of software engineering experience with a related bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a related master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Flux, enterprise APIs, RESTful services, microservices, Linux, Git, Nexus, and Maven.
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle and configuration management tools.
• Proven experience as a technical lead, mentor, or engineering team manager.
• U.S. citizenship required; a current Secret or TS security clearance may be considered, with position-appropriate clearance requirements applying.

Nice to have

• Cloud experience with AWS or Azure.
• Experience developing Kubernetes operators and custom CRDs.
• Experience with Go, Python, CI/CD automation, distributed or NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
• Familiarity with Big Data platforms and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or GitHub Enterprise.
