Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Columbia, Maryland, United States, with an average of 1–2 days per week at the office. U.S. citizenship is required.

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex Java software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Design enterprise APIs and develop RESTful web services.
• Build and support software using microservices architecture and object-oriented programming.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality solutions for client needs.
• Test, troubleshoot, and resolve issues while managing multiple deadlines.
• Keep current with emerging software development technologies and practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries, such as Spring and Guava.
• Experience with enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, OOP, and the agile software lifecycle.
• Experience with Linux and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, and Maven.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to work in a hybrid environment from the Columbia, Maryland office are required. A Secret-level clearance will be processed.

Nice to have

• Current Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with NiFi, Kafka, AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with distributed or NoSQL databases and full-text search engines such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
• Scripting experience and familiarity with big data platforms.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise, and related development tools.
