Development Underwriter - SME Property & Casualty Networks

Location: LAN - Manchester, United Kingdom. Hybrid work arrangement with three days per week in the office and two days at home. The role also requires travel across the UK for broker meetings and industry conferences.

What you will do

• Underwrite and negotiate moderate SME property and casualty risks in line with risk appetite and profitability targets.
• Manage a portfolio, achieve performance indicators, target new business, and support account retention.
• Handle submissions, quotes, binds, referrals, and corrective actions identified through portfolio management.
• Develop broker relationships, market hirify.global products, and identify cross-selling opportunities with internal partners and sales teams.
• Build pipeline plans, support underwriting reviews, and contribute to product and regulatory change projects.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters and support junior team members.

Requirements

• A Levels or a similar qualification.
• Good experience in underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment.
• Good experience trading with brokers and developing broker relationships.
• Knowledge of insurance products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel to broker meetings and industry events across the UK.
