Senior Schemes Underwriter - Medical Malpractice

Location: Hybrid working, based in the York, London or Colchester office, with attendance up to 3 days per week and regular travel between offices and to broker meetings.

What you will do

• Manage and grow the Medical Malpractice schemes portfolio across the UK healthcare, beauty and wellbeing sectors.
• Handle broker referrals and write complex business while delivering a high standard of broker service.
• Identify, develop and grow new schemes and delegated authority business opportunities.
• Shape underwriting strategy, develop new products and propositions, and support profitable portfolio growth.
• Monitor emerging risks, exposures and regulatory developments across relevant sectors.
• Manage strategic broker relationships and mentor junior members of the underwriting team.

Requirements

• Strong experience in Medical Malpractice, Healthcare or Professional Indemnity underwriting.
• Ability to make confident underwriting decisions in complex and challenging situations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
• ACII qualified or actively working towards the qualification.
• Degree qualification or relevant insurance qualifications, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with schemes business or delegated authority arrangements.
• Experience writing Casualty and Property lines of business.
