Cost Accounting Manager (Medical Devices)

Location: San Mateo, California; hybrid, with office attendance three days per week

Salary: $155,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities for inventory and COGS, including journal entries, reconciliations, and executive reporting.
• Manage annual standard cost roll-ups, ERP updates, and monthly manufacturing variance analysis across purchase price, labor, overhead, and usage.
• Calculate and maintain excess and obsolete inventory reserves, warranty reserves, and supply chain accruals.
• Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle counting across warehouses and contract manufacturers.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and R&D on margin expansion, cost reduction, and new product introduction cost and BOM modeling.
• Serve as the inventory module subject matter expert and collaborate with IT to automate workflows and improve data accuracy.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years focused on cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation methods, and standard costing principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems such as NetSuite.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States or be eligible for a sponsorship path supported by hirify.global.
