Senior Turnaround Specialist (Refinery Turnarounds)

Location: Onsite in Wilmington or Carson, California, United States. Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM; extended hours are required during turnaround events. Travel is 5% or less. Relocation may be available.

Salary: $122,900–$212,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead turnaround scope development with site departments and ensure work is accurately captured, reviewed, approved, and aligned.
• Plan and coordinate turnaround execution, including schedules, work packages, manpower loading, equipment, contractors, logistics, and site resources.
• Review Primavera P6 schedules, work lists, engineering logs, BOMs, P&IDs, QA/QC packages, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate contractors, planners, schedulers, engineering, operations, and project controls through recurring planning and execution meetings.
• Monitor assigned scope during execution and adjust resources to complete work safely, on schedule, and under budget.
• Compile closeout and performance reports, apply lessons learned, and support future turnaround budget and scope development.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 7 years of coordinating or planning experience in maintenance, projects, or construction within a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy-industry environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship.
• Must be able to work onsite, wear refinery PPE including a respirator, perform field tasks, complete a hair drug test and physical, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or an engineering-related field.
• Previous leadership experience.
