Senior Engineer I, Mechanical (Refining)

Location: Ferndale, Washington, United States; onsite at the Ferndale Refinery. The role requires occasional travel of up to 5% and extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Base salary: $141,300–$172,700 per year.

What you will do

• Provide mechanical engineering support for refinery maintenance, turnarounds, equipment downtime, and plant outages.
• Design and implement solutions for fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, and tanks.
• Develop and review repair plans, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, test procedures, and work packages.
• Support scope development, risk ranking, planning, execution, management of change, and mechanical integrity activities.
• Coordinate piping design and collaborate with maintenance, operations, inspection, reliability, procurement, project controls, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide field support for troubleshooting, fabrication, repairs, construction, welding, NDE, cranes, scaffolds, and work sequencing.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States; regular U.S. positions require qualifying U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or other specified immigration status.
• Temporary visa holders and candidates requiring current or future work authorization sponsorship are not eligible.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering.
• At least 2 years of engineering experience in maintenance and turnarounds within a refining environment.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work safely in demanding refinery conditions, climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet, lift up to 50 pounds, and use required protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Four or more years of experience in maintenance, turnaround, reliability, or discipline engineering in refining or petrochemical operations.
• Experience with turnaround planning, field execution, equipment downtime, or plant outage support.
• Knowledge of API 579, API 571, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ASME PCC-1, and ASME PCC-2.
• Experience with management of change, equipment history evaluation, construction techniques, and multidisciplinary repair coordination.
