General Liability Technical Specialist

Location: Hybrid role in Hunt Valley, Maryland, United States

Annual base salary: $85,600–$141,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do

• Handle assigned severe General Liability bodily injury and property damage claims throughout the full claim life cycle.
• Investigate coverage, liability, damages, contribution potential, and applicable policy and legal requirements.
• Establish reserves, evaluate exposure, maintain claim files, and ensure timely and compliant claim handling.
• Coordinate internal and external resources, including counsel, subrogation, risk control, medical consultants, and specialized investigators.
• Develop litigation plans, manage counsel and legal expenses, and attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, and trials as needed.
• Negotiate claim resolutions, apply alternative dispute resolution methods, and share technical expertise and resolution techniques with colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least two years of bodily injury liability claim handling experience or comparable litigation claim experience.
• Three years of bodily injury liability claim handling and/or litigation experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, litigation, and claims handling practices.
• Ability to independently evaluate complex claims, make decisions, negotiate resolutions, and communicate complex information clearly.
• Insurance license(s) may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting the job, with continuing education as required.
