Corporate Counsel Litigation (Product Liability)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States. Hybrid schedule: 4 days per week in-office and 1 day remote. Applicants may work in or relocate to Portland; relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $144,000–$184,000 USD annually, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Manage a high-volume litigation docket across multiple jurisdictions, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
• Evaluate and coordinate responses to pre-litigation product liability claims, investigations, negotiations, and resolutions.
• Develop litigation strategies and make settlement and trial recommendations.
• Manage external counsel, litigation budgets, legal spend, and counsel relationships.
• Advise product, engineering, business, and senior leadership teams on litigation, regulatory risk, and measures to minimize legal exposure.
• Monitor legal and legislative developments, support litigation governance, deliver risk-reduction training, and respond to subpoenas and government information requests.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree.
• Membership in good standing of a state bar and ability to practice law in Oregon as in-house counsel.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant litigation experience, ideally including product liability litigation.
• Excellent analytical, strategic, legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Experience with technologies supporting litigation management and operations.
• Applicants must be permanently authorized to work in the United States at the time of application; visa sponsorship and applications from existing visa holders are not accepted.
