TL;DR
Line Mechanic-D (Electrical Transmission and Distribution): Installing, maintaining, inspecting, and removing overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution facilities with an accent on line equipment, conductors, poles, structures, and safety procedures. Focus on developing lineworker skills under supervision, operating utility vehicles and equipment, performing rescue processes, and progressing through D-level qualifications.
Location: Muncie, Indiana; must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the assigned service center

What you will do
- Assist with installing, maintaining, inspecting, rearranging, and removing overhead and underground transmission and distribution facilities.
- Handle poles, towers, structures, conductors, fixtures, line materials, hardware, and associated equipment under supervision.
- Drive and operate line trucks and auxiliary equipment; progress to operating digger/derrick and aerial devices after the required D-level training.
- Splice primary and secondary overhead wires using crimping, compression, and other linework tools.
- Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, protective equipment, work areas, and safety materials.
- Support pole-top and bucket-truck rescue procedures, work-area protection, meter readings, records, reports, and apprentice documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required; line work experience or line school education is preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license and the ability to obtain required commercial driver licensing.
- Must acquire a CDL beginner’s permit within 60 days.
- Must complete a recommended HireVue Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout result and a physical abilities assessment.
- Must be able to live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the assigned service center; considerable travel and overtime may be required.
