Line Mechanic (Tolland, CT)

Location: Tolland, Connecticut, United States; must live within one hour of the reporting location and be available at the reporting base within approximately 30 minutes during trouble-call assignments.

Salary: Starting at $56.32 per hour, progressing according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Construct, operate, and maintain the electric distribution system.
• Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Work aloft on utility poles and on ground- and pad-mounted structures.
• Perform rubber gloving on high-voltage distribution systems up to 23kV.
• Respond to trouble calls, overtime assignments, and emergency restoration work, including work outside normal hours or responsibilities.
• Direct the work of other coworkers when assigned.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a fully qualified Line Mechanic position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to skillfully climb poles using lineman’s climbers and perform the essential physical duties of the role.
• Ability to qualify for and possess a Commercial Driver’s License; a clean driving record is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and direct coworkers when required.
• Visa or immigration-related sponsorship is not available for this position.
