Line Mechanic (Newtown, CT)

Location: Newtown, Connecticut, United States; must live within one hour of the reporting location and be available at the reporting base within approximately one-half hour during trouble call assignments.

Salary: Starting at $56.32 per hour, progressing in accordance with the union contract.

What you will do

• Construct, operate, and maintain the electric distribution system.
• Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Work aloft on electric utility poles and on ground- and pad-mounted structures.
• Perform rubber gloving on high-voltage distribution systems up to 23KV.
• Direct the work of other coworkers when assigned.
• Respond to trouble calls, overtime, emergency work, and emergency restoration assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a fully qualified line mechanic position.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to perform the essential duties, including skilled pole climbing with lineman's climbers.
• Ability to communicate effectively and direct the work of coworkers.
• Availability for overtime and emergency work as required.

• Valid Commercial Driver's License and a satisfactory clean driving record.
