Lineworker

Location: Lancaster, New Hampshire, for the satellite shop in Colebrook; residence within 30 minutes of the area work center is required within six months of employment.

Salary: Up to $53.35 per hour; starting wage depends on experience.

What you will do

• Construct, install, repair, maintain, and remove distribution and transmission circuits, substations, and associated facilities.
• Rig poles on energized and de-energized circuits and work on poles and structures.
• Install and maintain transformers, voltage regulators, capacitors, reclosers, fuses, and underground equipment.
• Perform repairs on energized equipment and handle tasks associated with lower-rated classifications.
• Respond to outages, trouble calls, system emergencies, and emergency restoration assignments, including work outside normal hours and locations.
• Provide line department standby coverage on a rotating schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least 18 months of overhead electric line experience on energized and de-energized lines.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, transmission and distribution systems, and line work practices and policies.
• Ability to become certified as a rubber glover for 34.5 kV.
• Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Special Trailer Endorsement and maintain a safe driving record.
• Mechanical aptitude, manual and finger dexterity, effective communication, ability to follow instructions, and safe work habits.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy outdoor work in all seasons, climb poles and structures, pass the CAST aptitude test and/or physical prescreen, and meet the 300-pound employee weight limit.
