Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Rome, New York; occasional telework is flexible, but candidates must be local to the work location.

Salary: $72,826.14–$126,630.53 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, test, debug, and maintain complex software applications and systems.
• Develop primarily in Java and C++ for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Build containerized software using Kubernetes, Podman, GitLab CI, and Bash or equivalent tools.
• Integrate third-party applications and capabilities and analyze commercial and government data specifications.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, testers, fielding engineers, and customers.
• Coordinate software installations and monitor equipment functionality against specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or engineering with 2–4 years of recent software development experience, or a master’s degree with 0–2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, shell scripting, XML, GitLab, VMware, Eclipse, and Linux.
• Experience with object-oriented design principles, software development lifecycles, coding practices, configuration management, build processes, debugging, emulation, and simulation tools.
• Container-based development experience with Kubernetes, Podman, GitLab CI, and Bash or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Agile development, Security Enhanced Red Hat Linux, secure coding, test-driven development, and public-key cryptography.
• Existing SECRET clearance.
• Experience with Go, Rust, Swift, or C#.
