Manager, Sustainable Venue Design and Development (Sustainability)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. Four-to-five day in-office work is required, with travel to venues, jobsites, manufacturing facilities, and related locations across Los Angeles and beyond. LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.

Annual base salary: $88,000–$115,000.

LA28 is an independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee delivering the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What you will do

• Integrate LA28’s sustainability strategy and targets into venue design, construction, and delivery.
• Research sustainable design, building materials, carbon reduction, biodiversity, and post-Games circularity strategies.
• Develop and maintain systems, collateral, reporting mechanisms, and communications for sustainability objectives.
• Support sustainability workshops with internal and external stakeholders and track resulting actions and deliverables.
• Contribute to sustainable procurement, vendor and contractor scopes of work, assessments, and deliverables.
• Support carbon and circularity specialists with data collection and assessment to track progress against targets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional sustainability experience across built-environment design, delivery, construction, and end-of-life activities.
• Strong understanding of environmental performance, biodiversity, carbon-footprint reduction, and circular outcomes in the built environment.
• Knowledge of supply chains and responsible materials sourcing and application.
• Experience working with consultants, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver sustainability outcomes.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, reporting, risk assessment, and documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, professional accreditation, or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in sports or major public events.
• Professional accreditation related to sustainability, architecture, engineering, event management, or a relevant field.
