Business Torts Technical Specialist

Location: St. Paul, Minnesota, United States; onsite role

Annual base salary: $85,600–$141,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve serious and complex General Liability Coverage B, Cyber, and E&O claims.
• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, contribution potential, policy language, exclusions, and applicable documentation.
• Coordinate policyholders, claimants, counsel, law enforcement, witnesses, medical providers, and technical experts throughout the claim life cycle.
• Manage litigated claims, including counsel selection, discovery, litigation strategy, legal expenses, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Set and maintain indemnity and expense reserves, monitor claim diaries and evaluation tools, and ensure timely, compliant file handling.
• Provide technical consultation, coaching, training, and creative resolution guidance to claim professionals and business partners.

Requirements

• At least two years of bodily injury liability claim handling or comparable litigation claim experience.
• Typically 5–7 years of General Liability, Cyber, and E&O litigation or claim handling experience.
• Strong coverage, liability, damages analysis, litigation management, negotiation, customer service, and communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of business-line products, insurance policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, investigation principles, settlement techniques, and legal processes.
• Ability to make independent decisions on assigned claims and evaluate unique, complex cases with attention to detail.
• Insurance license acquisition and ongoing continuing education may be required, generally within three months of starting.
