Sr Engineering Design Tech

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, United States. Extended hours may be required, including 24/7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Annual salary: $87,200–$119,900. Eligible positions may receive a 7% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and bills of material for large and complex utility infrastructure projects.
• Design the installation, removal, and modification of electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas, and telecommunications facilities.
• Perform field engineering and provide designs for internal and external customers.
• Coordinate, track, and monitor electrical requirements for New Business projects and customer delivery dates.
• Interpret and apply engineering standards, codes, guides, and technical memoranda.
• Provide technical assistance to engineering design technicians and support safe, customer-focused project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 3 or more years of technical experience; associate’s degree and 5 or more years of experience; or 7 or more years of relevant technical experience or education.
• Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test, unless exempt through a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of construction, operations, engineering principles, regulations, standards, codes, methods, and practices.
• Proficiency in computer drawing and computer-assisted design tools, along with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Nice to have

• Experience in utilities, transmission, distribution, gas, power systems, field operations, project management, military technical roles, or journey-level electrical or gas technician work.
• Relevant technical education through company-sponsored or comparable training programs.
