Senior Underwriter / Account Executive Officer Commercial Accounts

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States; requires regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel to those meetings.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned commercial insurance book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts across property, general liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, and umbrella coverage.
• Build relationships with internal partners and external agents and brokers to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Develop and execute agency sales plans, frequently partnering with the Managing Director on regional and group plans.
• Identify new business opportunities through consultative marketing and sales.
• Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including commercial lines experience.
• Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
• CPCU designation.
