Reinsurance Underwriter Consultant

Location: USA Remote

Base pay: $113,200–$155,650 per year, plus eligibility for a Short-Term Incentive plan.

What you will do

• Evaluate cedent submissions, exposure data, modeling results, and historical losses to determine risk quality and appropriate treaty terms.
• Develop technical pricing using actuarial methods and catastrophe models, assess accumulations, and support portfolio profitability and balance.
• Structure treaty and facultative reinsurance solutions and negotiate terms with brokers and cedents.
• Build and maintain broker and client relationships while advising on portfolio risks, coverage structures, and risk acceptability.
• Review cedent underwriting practices, financial strength, data quality, documentation, and governance compliance.
• Monitor market trends and underwriting results, improve tools and processes, and maintain pipeline and performance records.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Experience evaluating reinsurance risks, pricing business, assessing exposure accumulations, and interpreting catastrophe models.
• Ability to structure reinsurance solutions, negotiate treaty terms, and collaborate with brokers, cedents, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to meet documentation, regulatory, governance, audit, and compliance standards.
• Up to 20% travel is required.
