Vice President, Commercial Underwriter - Commercial

Location: San Francisco, CA; full-time position.

Salary: $129,995–$160,581 annually for San Jose, CA; $121,870–$150,546 annually for Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, and San Diego, CA. The amount depends on the specific job location. Annual bonus or incentives and restricted stock may also be available.

What you will do

• Underwrite complex loan requests and renewals across commercial lending products, including working capital lines, commercial real estate loans, term loans, and asset-based lines.
• Review loan structures, financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data, and reports to assess inherent risks.
• Prepare opportunity memos, loan presentations, administrative action memos, annual reviews, and financing recommendations for Credit Administration.
• Perform complex financial statement analyses involving interlocking relationships and assess financing requests against credit culture, economic conditions, and industry trends.
• Gather information for senior management or Loan Committee approval, meet with customers, visit loan sites, and negotiate loan terms and conditions.
• Mentor junior analysts on financial analysis, loan structure, covenant conditions, risks, and mitigating factors.

Requirements

• 6+ years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Advanced knowledge of banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and commercial banking products.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, regulations, and industry standards.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
