TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, testing, and transitioning end-to-end systems for critical space-domain missions and supporting IT infrastructure with an accent on requirements engineering, satellite communications, and government acquisition support. Focus on developing system specifications, verifying and validating requirements, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, and advancing digital engineering practices.

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; no remote or telework allowed.

Projected compensation: $110,204.91–$191,624.96 annually.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, evaluate, and modify end-to-end systems throughout the systems engineering life cycle.
  • Translate product strategies and customer needs into system requirements, specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Integrate hardware, software, and system interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support government customers, development and operations contractors, and internal and external users.
  • Plan and lead testing, verification, validation, customer acceptance, and transition of new capabilities into operations.
  • Capture system baseline architecture and support the transition to a digital engineering ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required and must be maintained.
  • 8–10 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 6–8 years with a master's degree, or 3–5 years with a PhD; relevant systems development or acquisition experience may substitute.
  • Technical bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience with space and ground communications systems and mid-level knowledge of RF communications theory.
  • Ability to work effectively within an engineering team and demonstrated success working with government customers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with commercial or government acquisition of satellite and ground-segment hardware and software.
  • SETA experience supporting a Chantilly Intelligence Community customer and related readiness processes.
  • Experience in systems engineering, integration, testing, verification, and validation of hardware and software systems.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering for capturing system baseline architecture.
