What you will do

• Assess the health of laboratory murine models and triage emergency health conditions under veterinary supervision.
• Administer treatments and perform assigned procedures, including necropsy, euthanasia, and surgical procedures.
• Maintain breeding colonies and collect and process samples for veterinary and research services.
• Operate, sanitize, and sterilize equipment while troubleshooting and reporting process or equipment issues.
• Record medical observations, process logs, documentation, and other relevant records.
• Communicate findings and unusual occurrences to researchers, veterinarians, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Either 4+ years of experience in a professional animal care facility with a high school diploma/GED, 2+ years with an associate's degree in Lab Model Science, Biology, Toxicology, or Agriculture, or no prior industry experience with a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with model handling and restraint, model health monitoring, equipment operation and sterilization, or sample collection is preferred.
• Some experience using software tools to maintain documentation and records.
• Assistant Laboratory Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Science is required within 18 months.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
