Sterilization Services Tech I / II - Full Time - Evenings (2nd shift)

Location: Lowell General Hospital - Main Campus, Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time onsite role, 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. second shift, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Pay range: $21.53-$26.91 per hour.

What you will do

• Receive, sort, disassemble, clean, decontaminate, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments, scopes, equipment, and supplies.
• Select manual and automated cleaning methods, sterilization accessories, sterilization methods, and approved cycles, including steam and hydrogen peroxide plasma.
• Package instruments and sets, apply labels and indicators, load sterilizers, and perform biological monitoring, leak tests, Bowie-Dick tests, and routine maintenance.
• Document decontamination, sterilization, testing, inventory, and case cart activities using instrument and asset tracking software.
• Build patient-specific surgical case carts, verify package integrity and expiration dates, and manage appropriate substitutions.
• Escalate missing supplies, repair needs, positive sterilizer test results, and other issues to leadership for resolution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Central Services Technician National Certification (CRCST) or CBSPD certification within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to communicate accurately in English and hear spoken instructions, alarms, phones, and equipment signals.
• Knowledge of general and specialty surgical instrumentation, infection control, hospital procedures, and medical terminology.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and instrument tracking systems.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 40-50 pounds or more and remain standing or sitting for an eight-hour shift.
