Automation Engineer IV (Instrumentation and Controls)

Salary: USD 130,000–170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead automation, instrumentation, and controls engineering projects through design, documentation, construction, and administration phases.
• Interface with clients, external partners, construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Plan discipline design work, project budgets, proposals, staffing hours, and schedules for large and complex projects.
• Develop construction drawing packages, specifications, control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring plans, and P&IDs.
• Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
• Perform design quality checks, resolve field conditions, lead discipline staff, and mentor less-experienced engineers and designers.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, preferably in a design firm.
• Knowledge of control system application software development methodologies.
• Advanced experience with instrumentation and controls calculations, control system design, P&IDs, electrical codes, and applicable industry standards.
• Experience with GMP manufacturing environments, mechanical and building codes, and safety instrumented systems.
• Ability to coordinate complex multidisciplinary projects and perform design calculations with limited supervision.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer registration.
• ISA Certified Automation Professional certification.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and discipline-specific software.
