Diesel Technician B - Day Shift

Location: Springfield, IL, USA. Full-time, on-site day shift, Monday–Friday with a 4:00 a.m. start; occasional on-road service is required.

Pay range: $23.55–$32.40 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel trucks, refuse bodies, chassis, and related equipment.
• Service hydraulic, electrical, air-brake, suspension, drivetrain, steering, HVAC, and light-engine systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, basic tire work, line-maintenance welding, and fabrication.
• Diagnose malfunctions using electronic diagnostic tools and resolve multi-system issues.
• Provide safe road service when needed to return company equipment to operation.
• Complete company training and support drivers operating the fleet.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of technician experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment, or graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next three months.
• Experience with or knowledge of Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision across systems such as suspension and steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
• Valid driver’s license required. ASE T1–T8 certifications and a commercial driver’s license are a plus but not required.
