Field Technician (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Hybrid in Pocatello, Idaho, United States; field work at customer sites and travel away from home are required.

Hourly pay: $30.00–$50.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, tune, and repair electrical, hydraulic, air-conditioning, powertrain, and other heavy equipment systems.
• Operate equipment, use hand and power tools, and work with electronic diagnostic equipment to locate failures.
• Read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics and determine repair scope and corrective actions.
• Communicate machine problems, repair plans, and status updates to customers while building strong customer relationships.
• Assess parts for failure causes and reusability, coordinate replacement parts, and assist other technicians with major repairs.
• Maintain the field service truck and complete daily work orders, time entries, and required documentation.

Requirements

• Three to five years of verifiable heavy equipment repair experience operating a field service truck.
• High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field is preferred.
• Valid Class A or B CDL, an insurable driving record, and compliance with DOT E-Logs and hours-of-service requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, time-management, computer, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team, work overtime with minimal notice, travel away from home, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, reach, pull, lean, and twist for extended periods; required tools must be owned.

Nice to have

• Prior dealership experience.
• Experience with Komatsu as the primary equipment line.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field.
