Area Operations Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, with regular facility visits and 60% travel required

What you will do

• Guide Plant Managers and production facilities in achieving area and regional performance goals.
• Coordinate operational performance across multiple plants, including fulfillment, labor planning, overtime, inventory, maintenance, and cost optimization.
• Develop training initiatives, standard operating practices, continuous improvement programs, efficiency audits, and 5S activities.
• Partner with safety and compliance leaders to improve facility safety, incident reviews, environmental performance, and regulatory adherence.
• Coordinate equipment bidding, vendor compliance, capital projects, and capital expenditure budget development.
• Communicate operational progress, challenges, opportunities, and improvements to regional, divisional, and executive leadership.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of management experience with strong leadership, critical thinking, self-management, and time-management skills.
• Experience analyzing inventory, fulfillment, supply chain, distribution, labor, and cost impacts.
• Knowledge of accounting and business concepts, including ROI, P&L statements, balance sheets, and margins.
• Strong project management and presentation skills.
• Valid U.S. employment authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
• Availability to travel 60% of the time, including occasional overnight stays.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Packaged gas industry and capital project management experience.
• SAP, Power BI, forklift, DOT qualification, accident reporting, safety, and compliance experience.
