Industrial Automation Electrician (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite industrial manufacturing facility; available to work any shift, overtime, and a flexible schedule under the union facility agreement.

Salary: $42.00/hour starting wage, plus shift premium for second and third shifts; rates top out at $48.00/hour.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems on CNC machines, Fanuc industrial robots, and automated production lines.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on servo motors, encoders, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, and related electrical components.
• Read and modify electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and control panel layouts for repairs, retrofits, and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robot controllers, and industrial communication networks, including Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and IO-Link.
• Install, wire, and test control panels, field devices, cabling, robotics, conveyors, vision systems, and safety-rated controls.
• Collaborate with technicians, machine repair, and engineering teams during installations, startups, and root-cause analysis of downtime.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an associate degree or technical certificate in industrial electricity, automation, controls, or mechatronics is preferred.
• Valid four-year journeyman card or at least five years of verifiable experience, with an electrician license or equivalent certification.
• At least three years of industrial electrical experience, including two or more years focused on CNC machines, robotics, PLC controls, or automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, ladder logic, servo systems, VFDs, CNC controls, robot controllers, and industrial networks.
• Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, megger testers, PLC software, and robot teach pendants; knowledge of NFPA 79 and ANSI/RIA R15.06 is required.
• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, work in awkward positions, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and pass pre-employment screening and required assessments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Fanuc CNC/Robotics, Siemens S7, RSLogix/Studio 5000, or TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis and thermography, plus basic networking and IT for automation systems.
• Basic understanding of G-code and M-code for CNC diagnostics.
