Controls Technician (Automation)

Location: Alexandria, MN, USA; domestic and international travel for machine installation support may be required, up to 35% at times.

Base hourly range: $35.00–$55.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Commission, test, and debug packaging, palletizing, and stretch-wrapping equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, robotic, and HMI programs for new and retrofit projects.
• Commission and test robotic systems at the Brenton facility.
• Collaborate with electrical designers to update electrical schematics and ensure controls designs follow electrical standards.
• Provide electrical and controls support to mechanical leads, the service department, and customers in the field and by telephone.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support machine installations as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, Fanuc robots, I/O devices, VFDs, servos, HMIs, pneumatics, safety circuits, vision systems, and industrial networks.
• Experience with Allen Bradley programming software, including RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, and FactoryTalk Studio ME.
• Ability to understand electrical schematics and read 2D and 3D AutoCAD mechanical drawings.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
