TL;DR
Postdoctoral Research Associate - Quantitative Microscopy and Live-Cell Chromatin Imaging (Chromatin Imaging and Developmental Neuroscience): Building imaging-based biosensor platforms and quantitative microscopy workflows to measure chromatin-state dynamics in living neurons with an accent on live-cell imaging, lattice light-sheet and super-resolution microscopy, and neuronal differentiation. Focus on developing probes, perturbation workflows, and computational image-analysis pipelines that reveal nuclear organization and gene-regulatory states during neuronal maturation and circuit assembly.

Location: Memphis, Tennessee, USA

Company

hirify.global provides a postdoctoral research environment focused on pediatric biomedical science, advanced imaging, and developmental neurobiology.

What you will do

  • Develop imaging-based biosensor platforms that make chromatin states visible and measurable in living neurons.
  • Optimize biosensor performance, microscopy acquisition, and quantitative analysis of epigenetic modifications and nuclear organization.
  • Apply live-cell, lattice light-sheet, and super-resolution microscopy to neuronal differentiation systems.
  • Build probes, assays, perturbation workflows, and quantitative image-analysis pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cell biologists, developmental neurobiologists, biophysicists, optics experts, and data scientists.
  • Define an independent research project and contribute to high-impact experiments and first-author publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in cell biology, biophysics, gene regulation, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience with live-cell imaging, advanced microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, single-molecule imaging, lattice light-sheet microscopy, or imaging probe development.
  • Interest in chromatin organization, nuclear dynamics, epigenetic regulation, or neuronal differentiation.
  • Familiarity with quantitative image analysis using Python, MATLAB, R, Fiji/ImageJ, Imaris, or related platforms.
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and ability to prepare, validate, document, and troubleshoot experiments.

Nice to have

  • Experience with segmentation, tracking, registration, time-series analysis, or automated image-processing workflows.
  • Experience with fluorescent probes, biosensors, HaloTag/SNAP-tag systems, protein engineering, or live-cell assay development.

Culture & Benefits

  • Access to advanced microscopy platforms and collaborative core laboratories.
  • Support from data science experts and an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Opportunities to develop new imaging probes, biosensor systems, and analytical methods.
  • Scientific training focused on chromatin-state dynamics, neuronal maturation, and brain circuit assembly.

Hiring process

  • Submit a C.V., description of research interests, outline of career aspirations, and contact information for three referees.
  • Describe in the cover letter an imaging system, protocol, or project personally built or improved, including the changes made, reliability validation, and resulting discovery.
