Sr Associate Scientist (Metabolic & Muscle Diseases)

What you will do

• Process liver, heart, brain, muscle, adipose, and other tissue samples through fixation, embedding, sectioning, and related histological workflows.
• Perform routine and special histological staining, as well as IHC and IF assay development, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Apply in situ hybridization techniques, including RNAscope, for gene-expression localization when required.
• Acquire images using whole-slide scanning platforms and manage digital pathology image repositories.
• Develop and apply customized algorithms for quantitative image analysis and prepare figures and data summaries for reports, regulatory packages, and publications.
• Track workload across multiple research programs and proactively communicate capacity constraints or scheduling conflicts.

Requirements

• BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or MS degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in standard and special histochemical staining across multiple tissue types.
• Demonstrated experience developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting IHC/IF assays.
• Proficiency with whole-slide imaging systems and digital pathology image-analysis software such as HALO.
• Strong organization, record-keeping, prioritization, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Tarrytown, New York.

Nice to have

• Experience with in situ hybridization platforms such as RNAscope, BaseScope, or FISH.
