Drafter/CAD Operator IV (SolidWorks)

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, United States; onsite role.

Salary: $70,054–$83,928 per year.

Support the RTC Test and Engineering Services contract for the Army Division.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks CAD software.
• Prepare specifications, assembly guides, and project reports for production and quality assurance.
• Manage designs from initial concept through prototyping and final release.
• Ensure compliance with RTC standards, configuration protocols, and client specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and provide solutions-focused feedback.
• Monitor engineering trends, tools, technologies, and materials to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• One year of vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering drafting.
• At least five years of applicable 3D computer-aided design experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, prioritization, and adaptability.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of SolidWorks part modeling, assembly creation, drawing generation, and basic configurations.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering instructions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
