What you will do

• Investigate how mitochondrial biology and the BCL-2 family protein MCL-1 regulate normal hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, lineage commitment, and cellular stress responses.
• Study how mitochondrial and hematopoietic pathways become dysregulated in acute myeloid leukemia and other hematologic malignancies.
• Explore the non-apoptotic functions of MCL-1, mitochondrial metabolism, and mitochondrial quality control.
• Define mechanisms regulating hematopoietic stem cell self-renewal and differentiation.
• Analyze metabolic and epigenetic pathways driving leukemic stem cell maintenance and therapeutic resistance.
• Use multidisciplinary approaches to identify biological mechanisms that can support improved therapies for hematologic diseases.

Requirements

• Postdoctoral-level research training in cell and molecular biology or a related biomedical science.
• Strong motivation and creativity in stem cell and cancer biology research.
• Experience or interest in molecular and cellular biology, mouse genetics, biochemistry, cancer biology, metabolism, epigenetics, genomics, proteomics, or advanced imaging.
• Ability to work onsite in Memphis, Tennessee, United States.
