What you will do

• Develop research protocols and establish new laboratory methodologies under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
• Investigate proteomic and molecular mechanisms underlying AL amyloidosis using NSG mice engrafted with Ig light-chain-producing cell lines.
• Study organ-specific amyloid deposition in the heart, kidneys, liver, and spleen.
• Design and conduct laboratory experiments, record data, and participate in statistical and biomedical data analysis.
• Assist with research papers, perform literature searches, and identify techniques to expand relevant knowledge.
• Perform molecular biology techniques, train laboratory personnel, and oversee equipment maintenance and consumable supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least one year of experience.
• Strong knowledge of molecular or cellular biology techniques and biochemistry.
• Ability to work independently with strong organizational, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of computer programming, statistical databases, and biomedical data analysis.
• Ability to work in a normal laboratory environment with potential exposure to chemicals, radioactivity, biohazardous materials, adenoviruses, and PHI/HIPAA identifiers under institutional safety standards.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, or a bioscience program.
• Two or more years of research experience from a postdoctoral fellowship or technical role in an academic or biomedical industry setting.
• Experience with SAS, SPSS, or S-Plus.
• Experience teaching statistics and statistical programming.
