Senior Aerospace Test Engineer

Location: Washington, DC — Naval Research Laboratory, United States

Salary: $153,000–$218,000 per year, depending on experience and location; eligible for an annual performance bonus and possible equity or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead advanced aerospace experimentation efforts supporting Navy missions.
• Define and oversee ground and flight aerodynamics experiments, including subscale, high-enthalpy, and full-scale vehicle wind tunnel testing.
• Support captive-carry sounding rocket experimentation and full-scale flight demonstrations.
• Define experiment objectives, mission requirements, vehicle configurations, instrumentation, and data acquisition requirements.
• Plan and execute complex aerospace test campaigns from test definition and setup through execution.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance are required; TS/SCI is preferred.
• At least 10 years of relevant aerospace experimentation experience.
• Direct experience with supersonic and hypersonic flight and ground experimentation.
• Direct experience with relevant test facilities, including wind tunnels.
• Comprehensive expertise in aerospace test instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
