Designer II - BGE Automation Cntrctg & Design

Location: Hybrid in Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Salary: $38.88 per hour; eligible positions may receive a 6% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design less complex electric substations and transmission systems, with a focus on protection and controls.
• Apply utility design standards, engineering calculations, and computer-aided design and drafting methods.
• Review customer and agency construction plans for conflicts with existing or proposed utility facilities.
• Determine project specifications, materials, costs, customer charges, construction resources, permitting, and right-of-way requirements.
• Prepare construction documentation and work-management system inputs, execute contracts, and maintain customer communications.
• Coordinate field construction, approve minor field changes, obtain approvals for major changes, and perform field location surveys.

Requirements

• High school diploma and experience in construction and installation of gas, electric, or lighting facilities.
• Experience with utility processes, industry standards, and codes.
• Experience or training using CADD and proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of design or drafting experience with a background in system protection and control may be considered.
• Knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, mechanical drawing, utility maps, technical drawings, protection and control concepts, and substation equipment fundamentals.
• Valid driver's license, ability to meet company driving standards, and access to a personal vehicle for regular business use; overtime may be required.

Nice to have

• Ability to become a Notary Public in the State of Maryland if required by the assignment.
