Power Project Engineer (Substation Design)

What you will do

• Design physical substation systems for 12 kV–500 kV projects, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, and auxiliary AC/DC systems.
• Develop protection and control designs, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
• Prepare grounding, lightning protection, and AC/DC load study calculations, reports, equipment specifications, and project specifications.
• Support project scopes, schedules, budgets, procurement, factory acceptance testing, and multidisciplinary document reviews.
• Coordinate design teams, governing-agency reviews, project-site work sessions, RFIs, addenda, change orders, and construction contract administration.
• Work independently while directing, mentoring, training, quality-checking, or supervising engineers, designers, project coordinators, and BIM technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Previous project execution experience in the Power Market Sector, including utilities, substations, transmission, or renewables.
• Experience with substation design deliverables such as one-line diagrams, general arrangements, grounding and conduit plans, foundation plans, material lists, relay and control systems, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office and standard power-sector design software, such as PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, or Revit.
• Commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• California Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one within 12 months.
• At least 3 years of project execution experience in the Power Market Sector.
• Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.
