New Generation Air Quality Permitting & Compliance Support

Location: On-site in Columbus, Ohio, or Fort Wayne, Indiana; Charleston, West Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; Shreveport, Louisiana; or Tulsa, Oklahoma. Up to 25% travel to job sites is expected.

Annual compensation ranges from $87,633 to $151,132.50 depending on the compensation grade and selected role level.

What you will do

• Conduct environmental due diligence for new generation development sites and acquisition targets, prepare reports, and identify environmental risks.
• Support project planning, construction, permitting, and compliance activities for new fossil generation assets.
• Interpret regulations, perform NSR/PSD applicability evaluations, prepare permit applications and modifications, and lead agency negotiations.
• Prepare and submit emissions inventories, stack test notifications, periodic compliance reports, deviation reports, and other air quality filings.
• Monitor regulatory developments, perform advanced data analysis, provide technical guidance, and develop compliance strategies.
• Coordinate facility compliance reviews, audits, training, consultants, internal stakeholders, and federal and state resource agencies.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in air permitting and environmental compliance; electric utility experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of state environmental rules within hirify.global’s operating territory is preferred.
• Depending on the selected role level, requirements range from 4 to 8 or more years of engineering experience, or 6 to 18 years of environmental experience.
• Engineering candidates must hold a relevant bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree meeting the stated ABET requirements; environmental specialists need a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, natural resources, ecology, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer registration in a U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred for most engineering levels and required for the Environmental Engineer Principle SG9 role unless waived.
• Must be available for overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as required; the role is sedentary and requires 10–25% travel.

Nice to have

• Professional registration or membership in recognized environmental associations.
• Advanced expertise in NSR/PSD, NSPS, NESHAP/MACT, Title IV, Title V, BACT, RACT, LAER, BART, dispersion modeling, or photochemical modeling.
